The year 2023 and its trends

    2023

An intense and busy year 2023 is behind us: we translated hundreds of thousands of pages of texts in various language combinations and carried out hundreds of hours of conference events.

What particularly caught our attention at this time?

There is certainly a growing interest in the development of artificial intelligence, including machine translations. Although the available tools are becoming more and more reliable every month, the effect of their work is still unusable without thorough verification (post-editing) by a human. Therefore, when deciding to use machine translations in cooperation with an agency, it is worth making sure that it has been certified according to the ISO 18587 standard (Machine Translation Post-editing). Lidex has had this certificate since 2019 and has been intensively training internal and external translators in post-editing since then.

When it comes to sworn translations, the option of authentication with a qualified electronic signature (QES) was chosen much more often than in previous years. It allowed us to significantly shorten the time needed to produce extensive materials translated regularly by international corporations.

Another change we could observe concerns conference events. Hybrid and online meetings, which were very popular in previous years, have again given way to on-site events. We are glad that many Customers have chosen Lidex to support their events with our sound and lighting systems, conference multimedia, and (simultaneous and consecutive) interpreting services.

The issue of security also turned out to be extremely important for our Customers. For this reason, last year we decided – as the first business in this industry – to certify our compliance with the ISO 27701 standard (Privacy Information Management). It is an extension of the ISO 27001 standard for Information Security Management, which we implemented 10 years earlier (also as the first business on the translation market). We would like to thank our Customers, Partners, Employees, and Associates for their trust and fruitful cooperation in 2023. We believe that this year we will also face many interesting translation and conference challenges together.
