  • Internet Governance Forum

This year’s Internet Governance Forum (IGF) organised by the United Nations was held in an online format with active participation from Lidex

The crisis of the conference industry as a result of COVID – 19 posed new challenges and created new opportunities regarding global internet governance. The new role of the internet is the main theme of the Forum organised by the UN. The opening of the IGF 2020 main proceedings took place on 9 November and continued until 17 November 2020. During the Forum, there were main sessions, a high-level leaders’ meeting, a parliamentary roundtable and many thematic sessions, and in addition, the Forum participants took part in working panels, workshops, as well as public debates and meetings. Comprehensive support for this Forum in terms of remote simultaneous interpretation together with the provision of multilingual online mode was handled by Lidex. The smooth technical execution of this project was the result of the work of the Lidex’s multi-member team of technical managers.

Thanks to our experience in the delivery of such complex online projects, and also thanks to the involvement of elite interpreters for this task, who performed their work with great care and professionalism, the entire event ran smoothly and was highly appreciated by the participants. The specialised simultaneous interpretation itself was provided from and into the official UN languages used for IGF 2020 (English, Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish, Russian) through Polish. Almost 6,000 people from more than 170 countries participated in the online format of the Forum.

    We’ll get along!
